This entire month, I’m going to try to whip up a salad a day! The summer has kind of got to my appetite. And it’s the month of clean eating. No overdoing of spices or standing next to the oven for too long! And it’s time to knock of some weight too 🙂 Isn’t it always…

So this recipe is a simple watermelon, basil, feta and balsamic vinegar salad that can be made as fancy as you like. You can either toss this up into a bowl or serve it like I did…on watermelon slices. It’s great for a party snack too!

I love burgers. And cheese stuffed burgers were the signature dish at my second restaurant. We would make them with different meats and veggies always experimenting with the flavours and textures. Soon stuffed burgers were the only way these patties could be made! I wasn’t surprised when my parents requested for them for a celebratory meal to mark their 51st anniversary. Though the family had chicken burgers, my sis is following Lent and was a vegetarian! And she wanted mini veggie burgers!

There are days…and the then there are days…the first lot has like 36 hours crammed into it and the second hardly a few seconds. This is the dish you want to make when you have no time and yet need to dig into a wholesome meal. Don’t let the name misguide you, this is filled with the delicate flavours of chicken mince cooked with fresh parsley and caremalised onions. If you are a vegetarian, fill this up with peas, a mix of green veggies like corn, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli, or a filling of soya mince.

When I read this recipe thanks to Pinterest, I wasn’t quite sure how it would turn out. It had crackers, caramel, chocolate and almonds! Sounded delicious enough to try out, what i however didn’t expect is the completely blow-your-mind-out crunch, texture, taste and flavour. The salt from the biscuit base enhanced the flavours of the chocolate and the caramel added that perfect crunch! Truly an amazing find. Also make loads of these, they get wiped out faster than it takes to put them together.

Christmas Special-Dark Chocolate Biscuits

I was putting together a Christmas basket for a friend’s dad, when I realised i have nothing chocolaty in it! It had your Gingerbread Men, Rocky Roads, Beer Flavoured Caremalised Onion Jam, Sweet Bacon Bites and a bottle of Fresh Herb Mix for the roasted chicken, but nothing with my favourite ingredient.

The last time I made these crunchy chocolate biscuits, I bought ready-made biscuits, but this time I had a ready stock of my star shaped short crust cookies.

If you’re throwing a party and are stuck for ideas or not quite deft in the kitchen, make something quick and relatively easy that can charm your guests! This stuffed bread is often a charmer. I uses a hard bread, which is commonly known as Brun in India. And dipped into the various sauce bottles that are always lined up in my kitchen. All it needs us some cheeses, and fresh herbs and of course an oven.

This is a breakfast dish you will find in every Gujarati home. It’s simple, easy to make, can be churned out in 30 minutes and what’s more can be created out of as many different kinds of veggies as you wish. What’s more since it is traditionally steamed before it is sautĂ©ed, it can be made in advance and sautĂ©ed just before you are ready to serve it with a dollop of green chutney.

I am not a mushroom fan, and yet due to its nutritional qualities, especially the Vitamin D content, I try and incorporate the fungus into my meals at least once a week. Most often it’s just thrown into a gravy or stir fried with some onions and bell peppers, this is the first time I’ve made it a hero and am I glad!

I love drama on a plate which is probably why I love Masterchef with Gordon Ramsay. And when I manage to create a plate that doles of oodles of love and gets the camera snapping, I am beside myself with pride. Cooking at home is so easy, if you just let your imagination run wild. Boiled eggs can never be boring, but they are just ingredients, convert them into a stunner by using this simple process. Boil. Crack. Dip. Boil. Peel! Viola! You have a stunner.
