I love drama on a plate which is probably why I love Masterchef with Gordon Ramsay. And when I manage to create a plate that doles of oodles of love and gets the camera snapping, I am beside myself with pride. Cooking at home is so easy, if you just let your imagination run wild. Boiled eggs can never be boring, but they are just ingredients, convert them into a stunner by using this simple process. Boil. Crack. Dip. Boil. Peel! Viola! You have a stunner.
Some days you just want a quick nutritious meal, without spending too much time in the kitchen. This is the kind of recipe you need in your cookbook for those times. What’s more it works for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even in between meals!
I must thank Pinterest for this recipe…the pictures of this gorgeously colourful recipe made me delirious with the need to just bite into these juicy bits of cheese. Sadly, it had no recipe. However, I now realise it doesn’t need one..its a simple assembly process that can be put together in 10 minutes! But it does need a bit of planning as the cheese needs to sit in those gorgeous liquids and flavours for at least 24 hours. (more…)
There can be nothing as pure in taste as this concoction. It’s a perfect pick-me snack in the evening, a lazy day’s supper or even dinner when combined with a Cobb Salad or any other salad of your choice and–now here’s where I go a little crazy–a cocktail! Yup you heard me right, chill it, add a largish dash of red pepper tabasco, a bit of Worcestershire sauce, a squeeze of lime, a salt rimmed glass and top it up with Vodka, your Herby Bloody Mary is ready.
I succumbed…succumbed to the need of making my food healthier. Boiled potatoes are fine, but those gorgeous soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, thrice-cooked-potato chips no way…So whenI cooked up thisdelicious cheese stuffed chicken burger(made with chicken that has been steeped in hot water to knock of the fat, yeah yeah the things I do to keep the fat away) I just had to make homemade baked crisps to go with it.
My love for feta knows no bounds…and its such a versatile ingredient! Toss it with watermelon and basil and u have a superb fresh summer salad, mix it with peaches and bacon and you have a warm winter salad, bake it with dates and you have a mind blowing dish at hand…do I need to go on… 🙂
Kale….it’s the new wonder green… The markets are going crazy with kale crisps, kale chips, kale and green apple juice and whatever you have next! It’s nutritional properties tick all the right boxes, Vitamin A, C, K, B1, B2, B3, B6.
When you think of vegetarian protein source the first thing the pops up is tofu and cottage cheese. I have grown up in a family that loves its food, and each weekend was a gourmet challenge to create something new. When my friends turned vegetarian for health reasons, I literally needed to go back to the roots and unearth new flavours.
I am the food I eat. And the days I eat just greens I feel like a mountain goat…light on my feet and ready to run at the sight of an open road, with music plugged to my ears! I’ve done a million combinations of this one basic salad and each one ends up yummy!
The base of a good salad is the quality of the ingredients you use, the combination of crunch, sweet, salty, spicy, nutty and eye candy appeal. Most salads are served cold and that’s what we in India love to eat given the crazy temperatures we live in. Its perfect when paired with a sandwich or a soup. This one has my favourite ingredient: feta.
