Super yummy and super healthy dry fruit chocolate truffles

Not that I need a reason to make chocolates, but I’d just got my hands onto a sugar-free chocolate compound and I had to try it out especially since I’ve been on the look out for this compound for a quite a few years now. It’s super economical and very easily available. Yippie! (more…)

Chilli Pretzel Sugarfree Brownie
Chilli Pretzel Sugar-free Brownie

I love brownies, actually I love anything and everything that has chocolate in it. A slab of delicious dark chocolate is the best pick me up there ever can be, especially when that dark chocolate has a soft liqueur center and it calls for your attention around midnight…that’s the only time I raid the fridge. But this post is not about me, it’s about the soft, fudgy sugar-free brownie that was baked only because I laid my hands on mini chilli pretzels! Yup, you heard it right. Chilli and chocolate are an amazing combination. I’ve cooked chocolate with chicken and even with Goan pork sausages and has it been a delightful feast!

Banana, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Cake

The most delicious, soft and flavourful cake that can be made in a jiffy!
The most delicious, soft and flavourful cake that can be made in a jiffy!

This cake was inspired in Koh Samui, from a pancake a tiny lady made at the crossroads of an Irish pub and a kennel. Every evening we would find our way here from our resort some 10 kms away, on a bike that blew the wind out of my lungs. Within 2 days she knew exactly how I loved my pancake done. It would be slapped with layers on peanut butter, sliced bananas and nutella and rolled up to be drizzled with coconut milk and chocolate sauce! Drool!!! The flavours lingered on for many years and when I was looking for inspiration to make a cake for a friend’s daughter who loved banana, chocolate and peanut butter, this awesome pancake filled my mind space at 1am.

High in antioxidants, low in calories and carbohydrates

Breakfast of Champions! That’s what I would like to call this breakfast in a glass. It’s full of fibre and anti-oxidants and comes packed with nutrition too. You know, introducing smoothies to my morning regimen has really simplified my life and saved close to 30 minutes in my crazy schedule.

What’s more Chia seeds the new healthy edible tonic to consume, its high in Fibre, Calcium, Manganese, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Vitamins, Zinc and Protein! In india, people have used a seed from the same family for many, many years, its called ‘Sabja’ and is a must in falooda. But more about that in a forth-coming post. For now, lets stick to more nutrition from these small black seeds…Chai seeds

Peach and Cherry Cheese Cake

Peach and Cherry Cheese Cake

When it comes to a cheesecake, fresh fruit toppings have always been a favourite with the family. What’s more its really really simple to make a sugar-free cheese cake and that takes precedence over any other kind of dessert that comes out of my kitchen. Last week, I threw a party for a couple of friends and strangely when the menu was put together, i figured it had only baked items, from the slow cooked chicken to beer bread! It was time to add some bright colour to the menu. As peaches and cherries were in season, it seemed like the perfect topping to my cheese cake!

Seven-layered Sweet Puri

Fluffy and Crisp Saat Padi
Fluffy and Crisp Saat Padi

There’s something about the Diwali festival, that gets me all excited and ready to pull out fried snacks and sweets that are otherwise a taboo. This entree is a speciality and the recipe comes down from the maternal side of my family. In the olden days, all the women family members would gather together in the huge courtyards and kitchens and create these delicacies over a couple of days before Diwali. These would then be divided among the family which would in turn be gifted to friends. It was called Diwali Nasta and people would be invited to partake in it.

Today, no one has the time or the energy to create these foods. People hire out maharajs (cooks) or buy ready-made sweets and savoury items. But my family, prefers to make a couple of entrees ourselves. This is one of them. It’s a laborious and time intensive process, but the results are superb.
